Faculty Search in Computational Materials Chemistry

Applications are invited for a faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at Dartmouth, starting July, 2020, in the broadly defined area of computational materials chemistry, Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.

The ideal candidate will use a range of computational and simulation methods to study structure-property relationships in molecular/material systems, both to advance fundamental understanding, as well as connect with experiment. Examples of areas of interest include (but are not limited to) the development of new materials or biomaterials, films or membranes, modeling of materials, the effects of surfaces and/or confinement on separation, transport or catalysis, advances in energy generation and storage.

We particularly seek candidates who will help develop and strengthen collaborative research projects both within the Department and involving other Dartmouth researchers, for example those at the Thayer School of Engineering. The successful applicant will have a background in physical chemistry, which will support the expectation of excellence in teaching in our undergraduate chemistry curriculum, as well as relevant courses in our Ph.D. curriculum. In addition, we seek candidates who will be motivated to contribute to Dartmouth’s undergraduate initiatives in STEM diversity, such as the Women in Science Program, E. E. Just STEM Scholars Program, and Academic Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (ASURE).
