Dartmouth NEXT Announces the Appointment of Wendy Epps, Ph.D. as the New Faculty Director of the Teaching Science Fellows (TSF) Program

Dartmouth

Dr. Epps brings an exceptional commitment to student learning, innovative teaching, and academic excellence. Appointed Faculty Director after an internal search, she will lead the Teaching Science Fellows Program in its continued mission to strengthen undergraduate STEM education through outstanding peer teaching, mentorship, and instructional support.

Dr. Epps is a Senior Lecturer in Dartmouth’s Chemistry Department, where she has taught both organic and general chemistry since 2015. She is deeply committed to supporting student learning both inside and outside the classroom through evidence-based teaching practices and meaningful student engagement. Dr. Epps is the founding director of the Chemistry Department’s Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) Program and has been instrumental in creating collaborative learning environments that promote student success. She is excited to expand that work through her new role as Faculty Director of the Teaching Science Fellows Program.

Prior to joining Dartmouth, Dr. Epps earned a Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College, graduating with a double major in chemistry and music. She subsequently conducted research in Zürich, Switzerland, as a Fulbright Fellow before returning to the United States to earn her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from MIT. She completed a teaching and research postdoctoral fellowship as a Postdoctoral Faculty Fellow at Boston University before beginning her faculty career at Dartmouth.

The Teaching Science Fellows (TSF) Program is designed to support Dartmouth undergraduate students in STEM courses, especially during their early years at Dartmouth. Teaching Science Fellows are recent Dartmouth graduates who partner with the faculty of introductory STEM courses to help students succeed in these courses. Among their many endeavors, TSFs support students by holding review sessions, leading problem-solving sessions, and meeting one-on-one with students. In addition to course-specific offerings and support, the TSFs help students develop successful learning strategies and skills that transfer across all their college-level STEM courses and beyond.
